The Welcome Center is provided by the Young Single Adults Branch of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They will be providing help and information.

The Medical Reserve Corp of Greater Kansas City will be offering "Just in Time" disaster training, a First Aid station, and information on volunteer opportunities. They will share how to help disabled refugees following a disaster, and helping those from out of the area.

Learn how to treat injuries before the First Responders arrive with the Independence 2nd Ward of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Water is one of the most basic needs of life, especially in a disaster. Learn how to get and purify water in a disaster with the Valdez family.

MGE

MGE

MGE will have a truck and representatives on hand to help us learn how to prepare for disasters as well as deal with utilities until help arrives.

Emergency Prep for Kids

Emergency Prep for Kids

Prepare your children spiritually/emotionally/physically for emergenices. This workshop will be presented by the Hill Park Ward of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There will also be tents set up for fun and entertainment for the kids.

Independence's Finest will share the D.A.R.E. as well as other programs, and have a cruiser on site to check out. They will also have the BAT mobile and the Bearcat vehicles on display!!!

American Red Cross

American Red Cross

Kids can learn about their part in emergencies with a special scavenger hunt. An Emergency Response Vehicle will be on display, and information on Home Fire Escape Plans and Smoke Detectors will be presented.

Meals from Food Storage

Learn how to prepare meals from your food storage as well as methods of cooking during a disaster. This workshop will be presented by the Independence 1st Ward of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Go Kits

Go Kits

Demonstration on how to make go kits will be presented by the Blue Springs 2nd Ward of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They will be showing how to make different types of Go-Kits, including those for special needs.

Build a shelter from resources available with the Independence 4th Ward of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Information on what types of materials to store for emergency shelters will also be presented.

IPL will share ideas on how to prepare for a disaster and what you can do until help arrives to stay safe.

See a fire hose demonstration, a Pumper Truck and a Rescue Truck from the Independence Fire Department.

Gardening in various means and methods along with how to can and preserve what you grow will be presented by the Liberty 2nd Ward of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Learn about the Emergency Operations Center of Independence and real-time weather monitoring. The Mobile Command Post will be set up for real-time weather monitoring. Come and see the Storm Spotting Vehicle!

Prepare your finances and important documents for disaster. This workshop will be presented by the Raytown Ward of the Independence Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They will have a mock blood drive with nformation on the local blood centers and donations, as well as a Blood Center Bus Tour. Little Doctors and College Scholarship programs will be explained, and information on the "Volunteer for Life" (blood transport drivers) program.

CERT will be teaching Fire Extinguisher Training and Smoke & Carbon Monoxide detectors in your home. Sign up for CERT Training Classes and learn what they do in a disaster.

911 Dispatch will have phones set up to teach children what to expect when calling 911 for help.

Learn about post-disaster pet rescue and care from Disaster Animal Rescue Team (D.A.R.T.) D.A.R.T.’s mission is to rescue animals during the days immediately following major natural disasters. Animals that are now lost, hungry, and thirsty, terrified, and traumatized. And, in so doing, make every effort to reunite them with their families.
